History/Origin The name Tanami, originates with the Alan Davidson Exploration of Central Australia, 1889/1900. He established Camp No 66 at a waterhole in hills which he called Tanami on his map (NT Exp 30). Govt Geologist HYL Brown on the map (Exp 1/pt 3) accompaning his report of 1909, mentions Chanamia
