History/Origin | Charles Meyers arrived in Central Australia in about 1891 and established a business as a saddler in Stuart township. Annie, his eventual wife, arrived in 1896. Their marriage was performed by a missionary from Hermannsburg and took place in the old Stuart Arms Hotel. Mrs Meyers went south for some years while their children were being educated, but returned in 1924 and started her well-known guesthouse "Myrtle Villa". The hill / ridge is at the northern end of what is now Olive Pink Boranic Gardens is also known as Annie Meyers Hill and has the Arrente name of Tharrarletneme. |
