History/Origin |
Named after Francis Thring who was Stuart's third officer on his two longest expeditions. He returned to the outback for some years as manager of stations at Angaston and Two Wells. He married Clara Davey who had come to S.A. from Cornwall; they had a family of 13 of whom 7 were still living in 1956. Later in his life he came to Adelaide and set up in business as a stock and station agent. He died at Parkside, NSW in July 1908 aged 71. |
