History/Origin Named after Stephen King, born in 1841, who was one of the new group on Stuarts' sixth journey in 1861/2 to the north west. He returned to NT with Finniss as Storekeeper. He worked with Litchfield in 1865 and caught malaria. He assisted with the OT Line, joined the Survey Dept, moved in 1878, and retired in 1893. He died in 1915 as the last surviving member of Stuart's party in Australia.
