| History/Origin |
Named after Constance Stone who was born in 1879. In 1928 Sister Stone was appointed Matron of the Darwin Hospital. She later transferred to the position of Clinic Sister and opened clinics for ante-natal care, infant welfare and TB treatment. She was awarded the Royal Red Cross, and in 1937 received an MBE for her work in the nursing profession, retiring shortly afterward. Constance Court also bears her name. |
