History/Origin	Amoonguna as an administrative area is based on and takes its name from the Aboriginal community of the same name, just outside the Alice Springs Municipality, established in 1960. The name is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning ?treeless plain?. The community boundary, as approved on 8 March 2007, is deliniated on Compiled Plan 5075.
