History/Origin | The locality of Fleming, takes its name from the Townsite which was officially named on 20 March 1996 after Jim and Mick Fleming, two cattle station pioneers, the first pastoralist to arrive in the area in the 1800s and returned in the 1900s. Established in 1907 by Jim Fleming, the original Oolloo Station has been subdivided many times, with part of the Township of Fleming built on a section of the old Station. Mick Fleming established Douglas Station on the River of that name and a station of that name is still in operation today. |
