History/Origin |
The Simpson locality in the south east corner of the Northern Territory is named after the Simpson Desert which was named by C T Madigan in 1929 after the then President of the South Australian Branch of the Royal Geographical Society, AA Simpson. The Society had arranged the finances for Madigan's aerial exploration of the area. |
