Description

Abstract:

IN PROGRESS
The flood extent spatial overlays for Alice Springs for reference water levels at the Anzac Oval Gauge on Todd River. Flood extent spatial overlays are based on the results of hydraulic modelling undertaken by WRM for the Alice Springs Flood Mapping Study and are based on the design events for 1 percent AEP and PMF events. Data is provided as classified polygons derived from the raw modelled raster outputs and the flood depth rasters in the native TUFLOW model format have also been provided for each height increment.

Data Quality

Lineage:The flood data was created by routing the 1 percent AEP and PMF design event discharges through a TUFLOW hydraulic model which uses a DEM, hydraulic structure data and design event discharges to determine the spatial extent of inundation, including flood levels, flood depths, water velocity and Depth x Velocity as 5 metres gridded raster outputs.

The raster outputs have also been vectorised and classified into the following flood classes for each flood level:
Depth from 0.0 to 0.5 metres
Depth from 0.5 to 1.2 metres
Depth from 1.2 to 2.0 metres
Depth greater than 2.0 metres
Depth x velocity (DV) greater than 1m2/s

Spatial data produced as part of the study was grouped into a geodatabase, which contains tables, rasters and feature class for this project. Vectors and rasters was stored directly in the geodatabase. The geodatabase represent a relationship between datasets to ensure spatial information, collected or produced as part of the study is recorded in a consistent format. This relationship between datasets is defined as a data model and it consists of inter-related tables, raster and vector products grouped by a study.

Positional Accuracy:Five metres grid was adopted as per DEM resolution. The vector data captured at scale of 5 metres and the raster data has a 5 metres square cells.

Attribute Accuracy:The attribute information conforms to the Flood Spatial Data Specification Version 2 at time of capture. The template ensures consistent information is recorded and displayed on any platform.

Logical Consistency:Data of similar type have the same attribute structure.

Completeness:Complete
