Description
This is a high resolution survey (1:100,000 scale spatial dataset) describing mapped vegetation units of Melaleuca forest communities in the Northern Territory. The mapped information describes floristic and environmental data. Survey mapping features were derived from RS Imagery and Aerial Photography.
The line-work (circa 2000) from this vegetation survey and the attributes from the relevant publications have been translated into the NVIS vegetation attribute framework Version 5.0 (NLWRA 2000). A copy of these data is maintained in Canberra by the Bureau of Rural Sciences on behalf of the National Land and Water Resources Audit.

Data Quality
Lineage:Original linework derived stereographically/visualy using aerial photography and satellite imagery to delineate mapping unit boundaries and site selection, then extensively ground-truthed with topographic basemap/GPS coordinated field survey and site data collection. Resultant varified linework compiled at 1:100,000 then scanned/digitised into GIS system as ArcInfo vector information then built as a polygon coverage. Recompiled and updated to GDA94 as part of ongoing GIS Program 2004.

Attribute Accuracy:The accuracy of the attribute information conforms to the 'Australian Soil and Land Survey Field Handbook' at time of capture.
Logical Consistency:Dataset topological consistency has been system checked and all classified polygons are closed, nodes are formed at the intersection of lines and there is only one label within each polygon.
Completeness:Spatial data may be amended over time; associated final Report (2009) is draft.
