Named after The Honourable Ebenezer Ward, Minister for Agriculture and Eduction in 1875 - 1876 under the Boucaut Government. He was earlier one of those who served under Finniss at Escape Cliffs in the 1864 NT Survey expedition. He asked the Government Resident Scott as Minister to submit a plan for a railway to the reefs and the "successor Colton Government adopted McMinn's Report for a railway scheme for the Northern Territory". |
