History/Origin |
Peter Kruss, born in South Australia, believed to be the son of Jasper Kruss and Maria Ralfs. He was a Teamster and joined the Goyder Survey Party to Port Darwin in 1869 on the "Moonta". Whilst surveying in the Hundred of Finnis, Kruss Creek, 3/128 near Mount Bennett was named after him by the Senior surveyor, George McLachlan. He returned to South Australia on the "Gulnare" in August 1870. He came back to the Territory, was involved in mining and died of dysentery at Rum Jungle in December, 1873. He is buried in the small cemetery there. |
