Ted Rowe was stationed in Darwin with the Australian Army from 1939 to 1946 during World War Two. Ted was in Darwin Harbour on the 19 February, 1942 for the first bombing raid and for the remainder of the War. Ted returned to live in Darwin with his family in 1978. Ted was the first Executive Officer of the Law Society of the Northern Territory from 1979 to 1991 and set up the procedures for issuing the Annual Practising Certificates. Ted organised a number of annual events, such as the Law Society cricket match and dinners throughout the year. In his capacity as Executive Officer, Ted also served on the Legal Practitioner's Admission Board. He was a long-term volunteer in the Meals on Wheels program run by the Australian Red Cross. Ted passed away in 1994. |
