History/Origin Named in commemoration of Leonard (Bun/Bunny) Morris Cuttriss (1919 - 2003) who joined the Army with TX2896 2/9 Field Company and was sent to Darwin where his job as an engineer was to assist with the laying and distribution of water pipes to all Army camps in the area. He was later sent to New Guinea and was on the Kokoda Trail with many other diggers. He was discharged in 1945.

Leonard married Coral in Tasmania in 1948. They had 5 children. On retirement Leonard and Coral moved to Darwin. Leonard was active with many community organisations, including the RSL, always helping where he could. When his daughter moved to Darwin and became the CEO of Somerville Community Services, Bun became a great supporter of the organisation. He did research for them, was their gardener, handyman and did whatever he could to help.

He passed away in 2003 and is buried at Thorak Regional Cemetery.
