History/Origin | Named after Sister Antoninus Shelley, one of three foundation members to arrive at Garden Point Mission, Melville Island on 25 June 1941. Sister Antoninus assisted in the evacuation of children from Melville Island to Darwin during WWII. From Darwin they were evacuated to South Australia. In 1945 they were able to return to Melville Island. The theme, Top End Catholic Priests and Religious, was selected through consultation with Larrakia Development Corporation. |
