HMAS Tarakan and HMAS Brunei sailed from Brisbane on 26 December 1974 as part of the RAN's operation NAVY HELP DARWIN following Cyclone Tracy's devastation of Darwin in December 1974, arriving in Port Darwin on 13 January 1975. On 17 January HMAS Brunei, Tarakan, Wewak and Stuart, which was towing the severely damaged Attack, left Darwin for Cairns.
