| History/Origin | This new Katherine suburb is named after the old railway terminal and township on the banks of the Katherine River before the rail was extended over the river to Birdum in 1926-27. The name is believed to be Aboriginal for 'stony'. The suburb boundary, as approved on 8 March 2007, is deliniated on CP 5078. |
