History/Origin Named after John Donald Thomas who was born at Watervale, South Australia, in 1889. He served in the First World War and on his discharge opened up a garage at Port Adelaide. In 1932 he drove a modified T Ford to Alice Springs, and commenced a bush taxi and vehicle repair business. He later opened a general store and was the first R.M. Williams agent in Alice Springs. He died in 1972.
