History/Origin Named after Donald Alfred McRae who was a Works Supervisor and one of the first government officer's resident at Elliott after the post war establishment of the Town. He controlled the bore maintenance and road grading operations from this centre and the area north of Tennant Creek. He was well respected as one of the earliest residents of Elliott. Donald returned to Alice Springs in 1955 where he died in 1957.

McRae Court in Braitling, Alice Springs, is named after Donald's younger brother, Ian Malcolm McRae.
