History/Origin | Named after Dick (Kumbadji) Cubagee, an Aboriginal of the Warramunga tribe who inhabit the area around Tennant Creek. Cubagee accompanied David Lindsay, a surveyor, on his exploration trips into Central Australia in the 1886-1889 period. Cubagee died in Adelaide of turberculosis at the age of 21 in 1889. In 1982, Cubagee Court was named but the development did not proceed, so in 1998 the name was revoked. A new development was proposed in 2010 so the name Cubagee Court was once again considered and approved for use. |
