History/Origin |
Named after Robert Brazil, a fireman, who was one of the few survivors of the Gothenburg which was wrecked and sank while returning from Darwin in February 1875. He was awarded a medal for heroism when he and other men swam to an upturned lifeboat, righted it, and bailed it dry.
