History/Origin Named after a variety of plant species found in the Greater Darwin area. Livistona humilis is a hardy small, slender palm with fan-shaped leaves endemic to northwestern Australia and usually found in environments exposed to frequent fires. The palm was used for bush tucker (fruits, heart), bush medicine and to create a black or purple dye.
