History/Origin | Richard Wayne Milner (1935 - 2015) moved to the Territory in 1986. He initially worked at Meneling Meatworks in Batchelor before moving to Katherine to work at the Katherine Meatworks. In the aftermath of the devastating 1998 Katherine Floods, Richard volunteered with Red Cross Aged Care when the residents were evacuated to Bees Creek on the outskirts of Darwin. Richard spent his time caring for the residents until they could return to Katherine. When he returned to Katherine, Richard assisted his grandson in-law in his business with the flood clean-up and later helped manage mowing contracts for the NT Government and Katherine Town Council parks and street verges. He passed away in Katherine, aged 79. |
