History/Origin |
Ugo Fadelli left war torn Europe in 1949, arriving in the Northern Territory with his wife, Teresa, to help his father-in-law Peter Pizzinato at the Caruso Mine (Mica) at Harts Range. In 1951, Ugo began work with Eddie Connellan at the Gillen Airstrip, a firm he was to remain with for 30 years, commencing as a cleaner and eventually becoming an aircraft mechanic working in the mechanical workshops. Also during that year he and Teresa, with oldest son Bruce (born 1950), moved to a house they had built in Alice Springs on Warburton Street. Their second son Robert was born in 1954 and daughter Sonia in 1959. Keen on the environment and recycling, Ugo won awards for his efforts. With support from Teresa and his family, Ugo contributed to the economy and culture of Alice Springs. |
