History/Origin |
Named after Sydney Osborne Hodge and Alma Fredrica Hodge. It is reported that Sydney, along with a partner, introduced Hayden fibreglass boats and Johnson outboard motors to the population of Darwin around 1959. Around this time Sydney and Alma become involved with the Salvation Army and spent their time caring for Aboriginal children. They later volunteered their time to the Retta Dixon Home and became involved with the Church Missionary Society, helping to build a new home, store and workshop. |
