History/Origin |
Named after Ian Morris who was born in India to an engineer father of Scottish descent, but schooled in Sydney and Adelaide. He came to Darwin in 1983 to work as a solicitor with Mildren Silvester & Co. He then went to Poveys, and subsequently founded the firm Elston & Gilchrist in Darwin (now Hunt & Hunt). He went to the private Bar in 2005 and quickly developed one of Darwin's busiest practices. He was a devoted barrister and a "man of the community". He was the President of the Law Society, Chair of the Agents Licensing Board and Chair of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. He was also a great supporter of Variety, the Heart Foundation and Kalumburu Road Community School. |
