History/Origin Named after Frederick Henry Litchfield, explorer and Special Constable. Litchfield's connection commended with Finniss' survey party 1864/5 to Escape Cliffs, through to the 1920?s. Litchfield was the first to find gold in the Northern Territory at the Finniss River in September 1865.
