History/Origin | Named after Len and Geoff Kittle. At the end of the war the Kittle brothers bought ex-Army trucks and trailers and were the first to move cattle by roadtrain for Ted Ward from Banka Banka Station to Alice Springs. The Kittles back loaded with fuel and general freight for Tennant Creek. The Kittle brothers acquired the C.O.R. Fuel Agency (now BP) in Tennant Creek and also secured the contract to supply fuel for the Peko Mine. The Kittles continued to operate this business until the early 1970's when Fleet Owners acquired their business and it became known as Red North. They then purchased the General Motors agency in Alice Springs. |
