History/Origin |
Named after Justice Gerald George Hogan a lawyer and soldier. He was part of the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade during the First World War. He was discharged in 1919 and practised as a solicitor in Darwin. He was appointed as Stipendiary Magistrate and Registrar of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory and later Deputy Judge. He was appointed as the Crown Law Officer in Papua New Guinea, where he remained until his evacuation in 1942. |
