History/Origin | Named in commemoration of Malcolm Warren Trainer who arrived in the Northern Territory in 1957. He served as a Signalman (103 Signals Squadron 6RAR) in Vietnam for 348 days. He then had a long career with the Northern Territory Government and held the position of Special Projects Director with the Department of Transport and Works at his death. He had many interests in the community including Darwin Little Athletics, North Darwin Returned Services Club, President and life member of Jaycees, and was Treasurer for seven years at the Royal Australian Artillery Association (NT) Inc. He was part of a team responsible for the development, field research and recovery of military artefacts relating to the Top End's WWII history. He passed away in Darwin in 1990. |
