History/Origin |
Named in commemoration of Captain John Heathcote Newmarch (1894 - 1963), who graduated from the Military College at Duntroon in 1911. He was a pilot during WWI and was awarded the Military Cross. He was crippled following an accident and took up accountancy and joined the Vestey's company in the Northern Territory. In 1926, He took over management of Manbulloo station. |
