History/Origin	This Hundred lying south of Bynoe Harbour in the County of Palmerston was one of the first 13 Hundreds gazetted in the N.T in 1871. The Hundred of Glyde was named after Lavington Glyde, an accountant and parliamentarian in South Australia. Born in Exeter, Devon in 1823 and coming to Adelaide in 1850, he represented East Torrens, Yatala and Victoria in the Assembly. He was appointed Commissioner for Crown Lands in 1863. He was Treasurer in the Blyth and Bray Governments in 1873-75 and 1881-84.
