| History/Origin | William Henry Tietkens on 19 July 1889 named the Range. In SAPP 111 of 1890 "Journal of Mr W H Tietkens' Central Australian Exploring Expedition" Tietkens wrote "Friday, July 19th - ...I have named this the "Basedow Range", after F Basedow, Esq., MP of Adelaide." Later in his journal Tietkens wrote: "Tuesday, July 23rd - ...I learned from Mr Warburton...that the highest point in the Basedow Range is known as Mount Ebenezer, having been so named in memory of the late Mr E Flint, of the Alice Springs Telegraph station." This range of which Mount Ebenezer is part is situated NE of Mount Conner. Ebenezer Flint of the Overland Telegraph Line died in 1887. |
