Title:Vegetation Survey Boundaries of the Northern Territory
Citation Date:2000-01-14
Date Type:publication
Custodian:Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security
Description
This is a polygon spatial dataset describing Vegetation Resource Surveys over the Northern Territory at various scales ranging from 1:5,000 to 1:1000,000. This summary index contains a single polygon for each survey.
The survey extents (also referred to as boundaries) have been grouped together into a compilation spatial dataset that covers the Northern Territory. This compilation dataset is regularly updated when land resource surveys are completed.
Each record contains descriptive details about the survey including; name, scale, date, weblinks to metadata and report (if available). Refer to the Data Dictionary for further descriptions.
DOWNLOAD SPATIAL DATA PACKAGE VIA NRMAPS. (enter nrmaps.nt.gov.au in a browser)
A web-link under the heading DOWNLOAD provides users with a package of information about the survey. This includes spatial data in an ESRI format (GDB and also shapefile), reports, maps and other related information. CAUTION: The spatial data package may be very large.

Data Quality
Lineage:The extent, or boundary, of each vegetation survey is created by dissolving the survey polygons using the survey name. Additionally, the polygons have been aggregated so that each survey will only have a single record. This compilation of records to a single dataset over the NT results in overlapping polygons. The data records are stored in alphabetic order using the field CODE regardless of survey type or scale.
Positional Accuracy:In some instances, the polygon survey boundary has been generalised to reduce the number of vertices.
Attribute Accuracy:The attributes, described in the Data Dictionary below, are attached to each polygon.
Logical Consistency:GIS editing tools were used to rectify all overshoots and undershoots in linework. Topological consistency checks were performed to detect flaws in the spatial data structure and to ensure that all classified polygons are closed, nodes are formed at intersections of lines and that each polygon has only one label. Polygons will overlap.
Completeness:This dataset is regularly updated.
