The mapping dataset contains groundwater yield and aquifer types over a topographic/cadastral base and provides a basis for identifying the extent and distribution of groundwater resources for Litchfield Shire.

Data Quality
Lineage:Linework generated by a groundwater officer using geology information, satellite imagery and field investigations. Resultant verified linework digitally captured using MicroStation as a *.dgn file. Recompiled and updated to GDA94 as part of ongoing GIS Progarm 2004.

Positional Accuracy:Good - Derived from topographic basemap, NT cadastre and GPS. The summation of errors from all sources results in data with a standard deviation defined by scale used as +/-250m for well-defined points.
Attribute Accuracy:High - The accuracy of the attribute information is considered high and conforms to 'Guidelines for the Preparation of Australian Hydrogeological Maps'. Australian Water Resources Council Water Management Series No 13. (1988)
Logical Consistency:Good - Dataset consistency has been manually checked and all classified polygons are closed. Polygons have been classified for groundwater yield.
Completeness:Judged complete at this stage - spatial and attribute verification of the dataset has been performed. Final mapping product has been produced.
